in the works.....

After dropping off da kid and doing some shopping at Trader Joe's in Chapel Hill yesterday, I returned home and started roughing out three knives. Two are Japanese vegetable knives (nakiri) and one is a slicer (maybe a sujihiki?). The nakiri are made from the 15n20 bandsaw blade I recovered a few months ago, and the slicer will be made from M42, a high speed steel. At least that's what I'm shooting for :-)  I think I'm gonna start calling my knives "survival knives," as we have to eat to survive, and there ain't nothing like a seriously sharp, usefully shaped, knife (or 3 or 4) in the kitchen.
